A native of northern California, Steve Purdy grew up playing with the U.S.A. Youth National Teams. While attending the University of California, Berkeley Purdy played 4 years of collegiate soccer and earned All-American honors.
After being called up to play for the Men’s USA National Team in 2007, Purdy was drafted by the LA Galaxy in Major League Soccer. Purdy decided to sign with 2nd Bundesliga Club 1860 Munich in Germany and later returned to the states to play for FC Dallas, Portland Timbers and Chivas USA in Major League Soccer.
Purdy later decided to play for his mother’s native country of El Salvador where he captained the National Team in numerous World Cup Qualification matches and played a major role in CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments.
Since retiring from professional soccer, Purdy has coached both college and semi professional teams, most recently the California Victory FC who were lead to an undefeated season under his coaching. Purdy has extensive experience coaching at various soccer camps and youth teams in Germany, El Salvador and all over the U.S.A. and specializes in one-on-one sessions.
